On the way to a modern political system
June, 2024Democracy, in its current structure, is not the best thing ever invented. It's easy to stick to Winston Churchill's saying, "It is what it is," and believe politics cannot develop further. If we quote any of the greatest politicians from the 1940s and place them in the reality of their time, their words certainly fit in.
But this reality is no more; the world hasn't just changed since then, but it is an entirely different planet we live on today. And it has nothing to do with the world even a decade ago, let alone more than half a century. So, what would be the best political system for the present is undoubtedly a million-dollar question. Nowadays, it could even be worth billions. Nevertheless, some things have clearly revolutionized – control over election promises is now much more manageable; social media, artificial intelligence, and the so-called electronic governments are things that can ease politicians' lives: if they promise but don't deliver, the electronic system would immediately block the access to their government or parliamentary office.
Finally, this could pave the way to a better political system for our time.
