A Historic Moment for Westinghouse and Bulgaria

Bulgaria has every chance to become the first country in Europe with the most advanced nuclear reactor technology. This week our client Westinghouse Electric Company, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. and Bulgaria’s Kozloduy NPP - New Build EAD today signed the Engineering Services Contract for two AP1000® reactors to be built at the Kozloduy site. Bulgarian Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Bulgarian Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov, U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria Kenneth Merten, the Executive Director of Kozloduy NPP - New Build Petyo Ivanov, the Senior Vice President of Westinghouse Electric Company Elias Gedeon, and the President and CEO of Hyundai Engineering & Construction Yoon Young-Joon attended the signing ceremony in Sofia.

The contract scope will confirm the site-specific design which will house two Westinghouse AP1000® units, the most advanced Generation III+ nuclear reactor available today.

Bulgaria’s first AP1000® nuclear reactor is anticipated to achieve commercial operation in 2035.  Тhe team of M3 Communications Group, Inc. is honored to be Westinghouse's PR partner and part of writing this new page in the country's energy history.
